Night vision paint or P-47 paint is usually used to enhance the vision of a helicopter pilot. To be able to see clearly while flying, you need to be able to see something.
In the early days, P-47 paint was painted in black on the nose and was used in the single-seat planes. Today, almost all helicopter paint is used by the military, for particular tasks.
The main difference between P-47 paint and other night vision paint is that P-47 paint was explicitly made for helicopters and could not be applied to ordinary objects like night vision goggles.
Another advantage of P-47 paint is that it can be washed off with water without having to change the paint remover.

The reason is that the paint itself does not stay on the surfaces, and washable materials are often just wiped off or rubbed away when they come into contact with liquid. As a result, cleaning it off can be relatively easy.
It is also water-resistant so that it won’t get wet. This makes cleaning the paint easier since the next time you use the gear; it won’t get wet.
The downside to using it as a night vision paint is that it’s hard to clean because the powder can form small lumps. The most common way to clean P-47 paint is to use a brush or sponge to rub the surface.
The powder tends to clump together if you rub it too hard or apply too much pressure, so it is best to leave it alone and take the time to rinse the area with warm water.
If you don’t want to take the time to wash it off, some of the older aircraft were equipped with a scrubber, which could make cleaning it more comfortable.
Even though P-47 paint isn’t ideal for nighttime use, you can still use it as night vision painting. One option is to apply a protective coating on the outside of the goggles before applying the P-47 paint.
The main advantage of using night vision paint is that you have a wide field of view, which is very useful for night flying. It also enables you to see even through the fog.
You can also use night vision paint to create a replacement for night vision glasses. They are also available to protect your eyes from the light from vehicles and sports. This makes them ideal for those that work in the fields, farms, or factories.
While using vision paint, it is essential to keep the prescription visible and to use the right color. It should be a white or silver color that is easy to read even in bright daylight.
Another thing to keep in mind when using vision paint is that it only produces what is called submillimeter vision. While normal eye vision is three or four times more than this, you will not see details with submillimeter vision.
However, P-47 paint is not available everywhere, and there are also drawbacks that you need to consider. It is useful but has certain disadvantages like challenging applications and problems with getting it wet.
