Inspire Fitness FT2 Reviews 2020 [TOP RATED]

Inspire Fitness Ft2 Functional Trainer and Smith Station (Inspire FT2 (with Bench))

Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is also known as a light commercial machine that can be used as a home gym product as well as in fitness gyms and clubs.

FT2 is a little advanced version of the FT1 model. It also has a Smith Machine along with many accessories that come in the package.

The assembled dimensions of this huge functional machine are 58” depth, 61” Width, and 88” height, and these dimensions show that this home gym covers up a lot of space in a room.

So it should be placed in a large room with some space around it so the user has no problem while exercising.

The maximum weight this FT2 can lift is 330 lbs of the user but the exercises which are performed by using the Smith section have got nothing with the user’s weight.

Frame Construction

Inspire Fitness Ft2 Functional Trainer and Smith Station (Inspire FT2 (with Bench))

Being a light commercial gym as well as a home gym, Inspire Fitness has constructed the frame of FT2 with 11 gauge steel tubing which is rectangular and round and extremely durable.

The round and rectangular frame of the machine has a scratch-resistant and rust-resistant two-layer coating of powder which gives a free finish for maintenance.

FT2 uses highly durable pulleys which are made of fiberglass supported by nylon and combines with steel ball bearings for effortless usage.

The cables of the pulleys have a strength of 2000 lbs. Nylon coating on the ropes provide a smooth travel when exercising and avoid the devaluation of the pulleys.

  • 40+ exercises
  • The package has accessories which are a plus point
  • Little maintenance required
  • Easy to use with a booklet inside
  • Great warranty
What We didn't like
  • Due to heavyweight, the machine is not easy to move once it is assembled
  • The bench is not included in the package

Weight Resistance

The frame of Inspire Fitness Functional Trainer FT2 has two weight stacks on each side of it.

The weight plates are 16 on each side, which are highly durable and made of metallic alloy. Each of the plates has a weight of 10 lbs which makes each stack weight 160 lbs in total.

The Smith section has a multiplier system of 1:1 ratio which has a capacity of 430 lbs, so this makes it perfect for bench presses, deadlifts, and squats by making the use of add-on SCS bench.

The weight stack has the capacity to upgrade the weight plates on each of the stack. The user can add 5 extra plates on both the sides to have more intense work-out. It makes in total weight of 210 lbs on each stack.

Possible Exercises

As it is a cable cross trainer, that makes it to put up a lot of space for the exercising. This Functional Trainer offers more than 40+ exercises and the package also includes a booklet for performing exercises. Few of the exercises are as follows:

  • Triceps extensions
  • Bicep curls
  • Cables crunches
  • Seated trunk rotations
  • Closing grip pulldowns
  • Golf swings
  • Prone reverse flies
  • Kneeling rowing
  • Chest presses
  • Chest flies
  • Pullovers
  • Squats
  • Front lunges
  • Calf raises
  • Deadlifts
  • Shoulder presses
  • Lateral deltoid raises
  • Shoulder extensions
  • Arm pulls
  • And many more…

Assembly and Maintenance

Inspire Fitness Ft2 Functional Trainer and Smith Station (Inspire FT2 (with Bench))

Inspire Fitness Functional Trainer FT2 has an easy instructions manual available in the package for assembly of the machine.

This requires two people to assemble it within a few time as one person would take hours to put it in position.

It is recommended to assemble it in a place where it will be used for exercising because once it is assembled, it is not easy to move it from one place to another as it is heavyweight.

The maintenance is only required from time to time on the rods of the weight stacks and pulleys so that they can give a smooth workout.

Final Words

The Inspire Fitness Functional Trainer FT2 offers 40+ exercises and comes with several accessories in the package.

It has an excellent frame construction with a total weight of 563 lbs. It can also be used as a light commercial gym for fitness clubs.

All in all, it is the best choice as a home gym with many features. Though it comes with a high price in the market, it offers a lot for the price it has.

  1. After years of having our garage over crowded with heavy free weight equipment I finally sold all of it a few years back and full timed my training at the local gym. Always missed being able to just walk out in the garage and toss around heavy weight whenever I desired.
I had been looking at the FT2 for some time but the price tag veered me away Everytime. Fortunately the manager of our local fitness equipment business knew I had been interested and called me last week to let me know they were selling the floor model and would cut me a deal if I was interested. They delivered it last Wednesday and so far me and my whole family are very impressed. Even my 17 year old powerlifting, football playing, wrestler son gave it the nod. Only advice is to read up and familiarize yourself with the Smith machine. So far, 5 stars.
