This brand of home gym machines puts a little higher cost on its products but those products do pay well. Wanting a functional home gym which has many great features can only be found in Inspire Fitness.

Inspire Fitness FT2 Functional Trainer is also known as a light commercial machine which can be used as home gym product as well as in fitness gyms and clubs. FT2 is a little advanced version of FT1 model. It also has a Smith Machine along with many accessories which comes in the package. The assembled dimensions of this huge functional machine are 58” depth, 61” width and 88” height, and these dimensions show that this home gym covers up a lot of space in a room. So it should be placed in a large room with some space around it so the user has no problem while exercising. The maximum weight this FT2 can lift is 330 lbs of the user but the exercises which are performed by using Smith section has got nothing with the user’s weight.

Frame Construction

Being a light commercial gym as well as home gym, Inspire Fitness has constructed the frame of FT2 with 11 gauge steel tubing which is rectangular and round and extremely durable. The round and rectangular frame of the machine has a scratch-resistant and rust-resistant two-layer coating of powder which gives a free finish for maintenance.

FT2 uses highly durable pulleys which are made of fiberglass supported by nylon and combines with steel ball bearings for effortless usage. The cables of the pulleys has the strength of 2000 lbs. Nylon coating on the ropes provide a smooth travel when exercising and avoid the devaluation of the pulleys.

This functional machine consists of total 8 points for pull. These are 2 wide adjustable pulleys, 2 high narrow pulleys, and 4 low points. These 8 pulleys provides the exercises for chest with 31 adjustment positions and 180 degrees of pivot on their axis.

The Smith section of this home gym has few of the safety elements and these attaches to the cables or the ropes that go through the low front pulleys. This section also has a plus point that it does not let the user waste any time in loading and uploading the weight plates while exercising, the user only have to adjust the pin on the weight stacks. It also offers the lowest height from the floor level which is 6” as this allows to perform deadlifts to the users.

Last but not the least, the package comes with many accessories which includes two-5 lbs weights, straight bar, water bottles, EZ curl bars, two D-handles, multi-function belt, ankle cuff and tricep rope and swing handle. The accessories which are not included but can be upgraded in the machine are 50 lbs of weight stack, adjustable bench, leg developer and preacher curl pad.

Weight Resistance

The frame of Inspire Fitness Functional Trainer FT2 has two weight stacks on each side of it. The weight plates are 16 on each side, which are highly durable and made of metallic alloy. Each of the plate has weight of 10 lbs which makes each stack weight 160 lbs in total. The Smith section has a multiplier system of 1:1 ratio which has a capacity of 430 lbs, so this makes it perfect for bench presses, deadlifts and squats by making the use of add-on SCS bench.

The weight stack has the capacity to upgrade the weight plates on each of the stack. The user can add 5 extra plates on both the sides to have more intense work-out. It makes in total weight of 210 lbs on each stack.

This requires two people to assemble it with in a few time as one person would take hours to put it in position. It is recommended to assemble it in a place where it will be used for exercising, because once it is assembled, it is not easy to move it from one place to another as it is heavy weight.
