Gary Dajaun Trent Jr. is an American basketball player, born in Columbus, Ohio. He is a shooting guard for an NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

He has won many awards and titles including McDonald’s All-American honors, Jordan Brand Classic Tournament award, MVP title of FIBA U-16 Championship while his prominent ones; which make his nation feel proud of him.

Including winning a Gold Medal in FIBA U-16 Championship held in Argentina while playing for National Team of USA and again a Gold Medal in FIBA U-17 World Championship held in Spain in 2016.

Family

Gary Jr. is born of Gary Trent Sr. and Roxanne Holt. His father is a former NBA basketball player and also his role-model, who has played for teams like Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Portland Trail Blazers.

He grew up with his three brothers: Grayson, Grayson and Graydon and one sister Tia. Grayson is a son from another mother, Natalia Trent.

Education

Gary got enrolled into Apple Valley High school in Minnesota and then decided to transfer to Prolific Prep Academy in California. For further education, he got admission to Duke University and completed his graduation in 2018.

Career

Gary joined Apple Valley High School in Minnesota. During his sophomore season, his average remained 21.5 points in each game.

While playing as a junior, he scored an average of 26.4 points each game with 5.8 rebounds and he was honored with Gatorade Minnesota Player of the Year award, Minneapolis All-Metro First-Team honors and All-American by Max-preps during his junior season.

Gary played in Nike EYBL Circuit Tournament for AAU Team named Howard Pulley Panthers and recorded scoring 22.2 points each game.

Gary moved to Prolific Prep Academy in California and during his senior season, he lifted-up his averages to heights; 31.8 points and 6.4 rebounds and grabbing 3.8 assist each game.

He was invited to play in Jordan Brand Classic Tournament and McDonald’s All-American Boys Tournament considering his performances in his senior season. He was considered one of the best players and ranked the top shooting guard of High School during his career.

He joined the Duke University and signed his National letter of intent on his enrolment day. He made his debut against the Boston College and scored 25 points with a close-margin victory over them and he also leveled a record of three-point shooting there.

In a game playing against Miami after he’s come back from illness, he scored career highest 30 points and made Miami face defeat.

His team entered the ACC Tournament with a good start of the tournament and remained undefeated with inching towards the finals. He added 20 points with 6 rebounds in the team total and loss to North Carolina.

Gary decided to hire an agency to enter NBA draft and he hoped to be picked in the first round and he was picked by the Sacramento Kings in NBA draft 2018.

But soon he was traded the Portland Trail Blazers were he signed his first rookie contract with the Trail Blazers for three-years. He made his debut in Summer League against the Utah Jazz and scored 16 points to open his NBA career decently.

In 2019, Gary was assigned to the Texas Legends to play in the G League for the Blazers franchise team.
