Frederick Edmund VanVleet Sr. is an American basketball player, born in Rockford, Illinois. He is biracial where his father belongs to the Black ethnicity and his mother is White. He is a point guard/ shooting guard playing for the Toronto Raptors of NBA.

Fred played basketball at Auburn High School in Illinois, where he was named All-State first-team honors by the newspaper Chicago Sun-Times.
In 2012, Fred led his team and remained undefeated in 22 Tournament games streak which itself is a record in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) finals since 1975 finishing the Tournament on 3rd rank. He got a scholarship offer from Chicago but he remained assigned to the AAU.
His sophomore & senior season was also a great success with winning different performance awards. He declined offers of playing in the Developmental League to play in NBA regular season but he remained unpicked in the draft 2016.
He was assigned to the Raptors to play in NBA Summer League and he made his debut against the Oklahoma City Thunder and won the match.
In his rookie season, he was assigned to the Raptors 905 which is the Toronto Raptors team in the NBA Development League. He was part of Raptors 905 when they won the championship trophy in 2017.
In the 2019 regular NBA season, Fred helped his team reach the NBA finals with the clinching victory in semi-finals against the Golden state and won the title against the Warriors.
He scored 34 points against the New Orleans Pelicans, which is the highest score of his career with the shooting percentile of 66.7%. The same season, he grabbed career-high 9 rebounds against the Washington Wizards.
