Élie Okobo is a French professional basketball player, born in Bordeaux, France. The young-blood belongs to Afro-American ethnicity. He is currently playing for Phoenix suns.

Okobo has won a bronze medal for his performance in FIBA Championship 2017.

Okobo is the son of Yves, who is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His mother is French. Okobo has a family background in playing basketball.

His father has also played for the National team of France. Okobo said,

“I was like three or four years old with my dad, I was going to his practices when I was a baby.”

Okobo has grown-up with his three siblings, two brothers, and a sister. His elder brother plays handball and the other one is also a basketball player.

As far as his love relations are concerned, Okobo is single and had no affairs in the past too. Okobo seems to be looking at achieving his goals and doesn’t want any distraction.

Okobo had primary education but he didn’t go to any school or college. The reason behind it was that he was crazily interested in playing basketball rather than education.

His father was also supportive of his decision. So he joined clubs and played leagues in his student age.

Okobo joined the JSA Bordeaux basketball club in Bordeaux, France in his teenage. He left the club and joined Espoirs Pau-Lacq-Orthez to take part in LNB Espoirs Youth League held in 2015.

In his debut performance, he scored 23 points, 4 steals but they lost the game. He averaged 9.8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

Considering his performance, he was selected by Élie Bearnias Pau-Lacq-Orthez for LNB Pro A league. At the end of the league, Okobo averaged 15.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists each game. The next year, he played FIBA championship and lifted his average higher.

In the Pro-A league, he scored his career-high 30 points with 8 assists.

He made himself available for NBA in 2018, he said,

“I’m progressing every day and I see how I’m contributing to improving.”

Okobo has represented for the National team of France and participated in FIBA Europe U-20 Championship, where he was among the top scorers in the tournament, with averaging 18.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

He was drafted by Phoenix Suns in NBA draft 2018. The very first professional match he played was in the Summer League, where his performance was remarkable. His regular-season highest is 19 points but they lost the match to the Clippers.

After getting picked by the Phoenix, Okobo signed a 4-year contract with the franchise in $6 million. His net worth is estimated above $14 million including his appearances in ads, while his permanent source of income is NBA.
