Elena Delle Donne is an American basketball player, born in Wilmington, Delaware. She is a small forward playing currently for the Washington Mystics in WNBA.

She has achieved so much in her career including a Gold medal when she participated in the World University Games in 2011, multiple times MVP during high school and also WBCA All- American Title. She was rated as the no. 1 high school recruit and also a McDonald’s All-American for her performance. She also played volleyball during high school. In 2007, she won the state volleyball DIAA championship.

She joined the University of Delaware, where she joined the volleyball team instead of basketball. She led her team; Delaware Blue Hens win the Conference tournament and they made a path into the NCAA Tournament, but they were knocked out by Oregon early in the first round.

After this, she was very de-moralized and then she joined the basketball team. Elena played as a freshman and averaged 26.7 points each game. She led her team to win the CAA conference tournament.

Elena was picked by the Chicago Sky of WNBA in the 2013 draft. She scored 22 points magnificently in her debut game in the Eastern Conference. Chicago Sky remained invincible in the tournament and made it to the playoffs for the very first time in the history of the franchise.

She suffered from a major injury during the tournament and after reaching the semi-finals, the Sky lost to the Los Angeles Sparks and they also won the WNBA championship. Elena was awarded the Rookie of the Year.

In 2015, playing the regular season, Elena scored career highest 45 points with the loss to the Atlanta Dream and she also made a WNBA record of consecutive 19 free throws.

The next season in 2019, Elena earned the very first WNBA championship for the Mystics after defeating Connecticut Sun.
