Deonte Burton is an American basketball player born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He is currently playing for Oklahoma City Thunder and was drafted in NBA 2017.
His achievements include Big 12 Newcomer of the year award in 2016, Big East All-Rookie of the Year and others.
He belongs to the Afro-American ethnic group but he enjoys good fan-following.
He is the son of Charles Burton and Barbara Malone. His mother, Barbara Burton-Malone passed while suffering from breast cancer in 2014 when he was in Iowa State for the season. Since then, Burton is watched wearing pink shoes in so many matches to pay tribute to his mother.
He has grown up with his six siblings, including five brothers, Charles, Keylow, Prentiss, Demario, Omar and one sister Nicole. Deonte has hidden his affairs from the public as he doesn’t want anyone to comment on his personal life.
He is quite shy about this and he wants to be just focused on his career, which his mom wanted him to do. His whole family is very supportive of his career regardless of their background of basketball, they are very happy with his performance. He studied High School at Harold S. Vincent. He joined Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball and then joined Iowa State Cyclones men’s basketball. He has completed his graduation from the University of Nevada.
When Burton’s mother died, he was away from her playing basketball season, he decided to quit basketball forever, but then he remembered that his mother wanted him to play basketball.
After schooling, Denote got enrollment in Marquette he played in Korean Basketball League and was honored MVP of the league. In the Big East All-Rookie Team, he scored an average of 6.9 points. In the middle of that season, Deonte moved to Iowa State. During his junior season, there was a low-blow for Burton, his early career was quite bumpy but his average was quite decent, 9.7 points and 3.9 rebounds.
In his senior season playing for Cyclones, he averaged 15.1 points and 6.2 rebounds with the highest score against Oklahoma, for whom he is currently playing for. He took part in Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in which only recruited seniors from colleges participate. In NBA G-League, Deonte had an average of 16.9 points along with 5.0 points for rebounds, and 3.3 points for assists. Before playing for the Thunders, he played for Wonju DB Prony.
Deonte was remained undrafted but was picked up by Minnesota Timberwolves. During the middle of training camp, he was put-down by the Timberwolves and later he was signed by Wonju DB Promy for the league in Korea.
Burton is one of the highly paid players of Oklahoma City Thunder. He has earned $3 million dollars from the contract with the Thunders.
